Broadway on Van Ness Concert

Boradway On Van Ness

SAVE THE DATE

SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2015

The 2015 Broadway on Van Ness, on March 15, will be here before we know it.  The committee, chaired by Ben Ewell, has already been at work making preparations.

Event tickets can be purchased from the church or from the Fresno Grand Opera online at  Fresno Grand Opera

or telephone number 442-5699.

Tickets this year are $45 each.  Early ticket sales have been healthy, so First Congregational Church members and friends should get tickets before they sell out. A limited number of tickets are available through the church office, but they must be paid for prior to being released.  The office will not issue “Will Call” tickets this year.

As this is a major fundraiser for our church each year, the bulk of our income is through Sponsorships and the Silent Auction, please notify the office if your business would like to contribute as a sponsor this year.

Sacred Pursuits Resume

The fall edition of Sacred Pursuits begins on September 17, (6:00 pm, in the church parlor) with an introduction to “Christianity: the First Three Thousand Years.”  This NY Times best-seller expands on much of the material introduced in last year’s study of “Zealot.”

While purchase of the book is encouraged, Pastor Norman will provide transcriptions of relevant portions of chapters covered.  Author Diarmaid MacCullogh is a world-renowned scholar currently teaching at Oxford.  The first chapters will cover the context and impact of world history and cultures into which Jesus was born, ministered, and the church evolved.

Grief Recovery Group

GriefGrief is something that touches us all.  It may come from the death of a loved one, from the loss of a relationship or of a job.  Grief can come in the loss of a beloved pet, or from the emotional aftermath of a significant move.

Beginning Wednesday, September 17, and meeting at 4:00 pm in the Fireside Room, Rev. Kathleen Denman (one of our newer members) will facilitate a grief recovery group.  Rev. Denman has years of experience over-seeing similar groups, and offers this ministry to those seeking a safe place in which to recover from the grief of whatever loss you are experiencing.
