The Ministry of Outreach will be holding an Origami class on making doves this Sunday, 11:30 a.m.,  in the newly-painted Heritage Room, (Room 2). The doves will become the decorative center pieces for the upcoming Church Women United Human Rights Awards Celebration on August 22 in Fellowship Hall. Come join us for a fun-filled artistic endeavor hosted by Nora DeWitt.  All are welcome!

Thursday, August 13, Taylor Harris and Erin Stueve bring their two person production to our Courtyard. A $5 donation per person is asked, but households pay no more than $10.

 

It begins at 6:30 p.m., and runs approximately 45 minutes. Taylor and Erin produced and starred in this one act play at the most recent Rogue Festival this past spring. Written by Frank Moffet Mosier, the play explores a Jewish myth from the 8th to 10th century of Lilith, a woman who was created before Eve. According to the legend, after being exiled from paradise in her own fall from grace, Lilith, Adam’s first wife, was transformed into a demon devoted to harming infants.

 

The Big Red Groupies are gathering on Saturday, July 25th, to go as a group to the 2:00 p.m. Center Stage Clovis Community Theater production of “Mary Poppins.”

The Sequoia Association churches are invited to our church on July 28, to meet and greet our new Conference Minister, Rev. Diane Weible.  An informal, simple supper, will be provided, for just a freewill offering.

 

 

Come and give Diane a Central Valley welcome, as we build a meaningful relationship with her, renewing our covenant with the Northern California Nevada Conference- UCC!

The Big Red Friendship Camp will begins on Monday, July 27 at 9:00 a.m.

The S&SG committee is currently focused on two immediate goals.

 

The first is the Fall Estimate of Giving drive using UCC’s 2016 theme Trust in the Promise to increase financial commitment AND number of giving units by five percent. We know financial pledges allows for planning the allocation for programming and the basic cost of our faith community. FCCF offers a unique faith based resource in Fresno.

 

The second is developing a viable five year plan titled Road to 2020. This involves working with the five established ministries, the council and FCCF membership in looking forward in establishing where we want to grow and setting priorities.

 

Both calls us to truly trust in the promise that God for us!

Sunday, July 19, at 11:30 a.m. in the Parlor, Melissa Fry will lead the July Learning Circle by sharing the work of “Wings,” a ministry for Homeless Advocacy. In the program’s own words, “Wings Fresno is an exciting program building bridges between the street and home for our homeless brothers and sisters.”
